Jose has more than 20 years of experience in Banking and Financial Services with extensive experience in several countries in West Africa and Portugal

He started his career in the Big4 environment (PwC) as an auditor for about 7 years. He then joined the Central Bank of Cape Verde as Head of Internal Audit, setting up the department from inception. He was also advisor to the Board of Directors for 3 years. With extensive experience in financial services and control functions, Jose led the opening of Banco Espírito Santo, S.A. (SFE) in 2006 and the opening of Banco Espírito Santo de Cabo Verde (later Banco Internacional de Cabo Verde) in 2010, as Head of Finance in both entities.

Since 2013, Jose is an alternate member of the Board of Directors’ and in 2018 he became an executive director as well as a permanent member on the ExCom and Board of Directors.

Jose has a degree in management form ISCTE (Lisbon) and belongs to the Cape Verdian Fellowship of Auditors and Accountants.
